Why the item value matters
Every parcel asks for a value. Here is what it does.
Before you request
SendMe asks for an item value when you create a parcel request. Describe the item and its value accurately so the agent can understand what they are being asked to carry and the request contains a useful record if there is a dispute. Size, packaging and handling instructions are separate details: a small box can still contain something fragile or valuable.
Your checklist
- It tells the agent what they are responsible for before they accept.
- It gives a dispute a number to work from if something goes wrong.
- Be honest and specific. A phone is a phone, not 'electronics'.
- Agents can decline at pickup if the parcel does not match. That protects you both.
An example request
For a boxed phone, write a specific description, state its value and explain whether the package is sealed. Choose the parcel size that matches the packaged item. For something fragile, say so before the agent accepts and package it appropriately. A vague label such as 'electronics' leaves both people guessing about what was agreed.
Before you approve
Compare the delivery record with the pickup record and the item description. If packaging appears damaged or the recipient reports a problem, keep the evidence with the request and raise the issue before approving. A declared value gives the dispute process information to review; it is not a promise of insurance or automatic reimbursement. Read the current Terms of Service for the applicable process.
